About

Always a work in progress, and progress over perfection, always.

I believe … “Maybe sometimes we’re delicate and unsure, and we don’t know what we’re ready to want, so all that we’re looking for are people with good intentions towards us, hoping for gentle in the unknown.” - Butterfly Rising "All human actions are an attempt to meet needs." - Dr. Marshall Rosenberg “We all have baggage, but there comes a time when we need to unpack.” - Unknown If the ocean can calm itself, so can you. We are both salt water mixed with air. - Nayyirah Waheed, Meditation from SALT. Welcome, I’m Courtney Lamothe, LMSW, LCSW, Founder/Owner of Self-Awareness, Let’s Talk, LLC (SALT). I believe that clearly understanding the root of our feelings - and being able to communicate our needs - is at the core of meaningful change. Often, it's not that something is "wrong," rather something important hasn't yet been fully understood. My background includes 13 years working in hospice care, where I supported individuals and families through some of life's most profound and complex emotional experiences. That work deeply shaped how I understand feelings, needs, and the human experience. Alongside this, I bring over 9 years as a life coach focused on self-awareness, and personal and professional growth. Across both roles, I've witnessed how powerful it can be when people are given the space to explore their inner world with honesty and compassion. My coaching is also informed by my own personal work - over 20 years of introspection, growth and learning around the same approach I teach. It's something I often heard reflected in hospice - a wish to have understood oneself sooner. That perspective continues to ground my work today. I work with adults as well as pre-teens/teens who are open to exploring their emotional experiences, relationships, and patterns in a thoughtful, self-aware way. With two years of experience as a school-based health center clinician, I've supported adolescents in navigating peer dynamics, family relationships, and the everyday challenges that come with growing up. Through my SALT (Self-Awareness, Let's Talk) approach, I focus on helping fellow humans understand the connection between their feelings, underlying needs, and reaction. Many of the people I work with notice that their reactions can feel bigger than the moment - and want to understand why. Through this process, they begin to make sense of what's happening internally, gain clarity around their needs, and feel more confident in how they respond to life's situations. This practice is best suited for individuals who are motivated for personal growth and curious about developing deeper emotional awareness. I work best with those who are willing participants in the process, and I offer space that is reflective, collaborative, and grounded - rather than crisis-driven. If you or your pre-teen/teen have a desire to live from a more curious, self-aware, regulated, kind, and connected place, I'd be happy to connect. May you find some comfort here.
